On January 01, 2023, the Rossland Arts Centre Society was officially granted a License of Occupation for Rossland's historic Drill Hall by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development. This monumental event brought to conclusion years of behind-the-scenes work by the board of the Rossland Arts Centre Society, and was a critical milestone in the process to reopen the Drill Hall as a community arts and innovation hub. Having this license in place makes the Rossland Arts Centre Society eligible to apply for capital grants and various other fundraising opportunities and makes it possible for construction to begin once funding is in place. This is a huge step towards our dream of transforming the Drill Hall into a community centre of creativity and innovation for all our community to enjoy! At long last, we can finally proceed with bringing in experts to assess what is required to repair any damage to the roof and foundation, plan the renovation to make the building fully accessible and bring it up to code. We are moving full steam ahead into the next phase of our project, seeking community support, planning fundraising events, and going after various big grants to support our project. Stay tuned, as we will hopefully be making some big waves in the local news as we announce our fundraising events and other ways that you can help to reopen the Drill Hall as the Rossland Drill Hall Arts and Innovation Centre for all to enjoy. We are so excited to have finally reached this point! We would like to thank the community, our supporters, volunteers, and our relentless board and committee members for their hard work!
